Academic Programmes, Degrees, Courses and Majors
Academic programmes are designed and managed by teaching staff (faculty) composed of experts from various academic and professional backgrounds and industrial positions. The faculty also includes part-time personnel plus visiting professors from maritime-related industries and academic and science & research backgrounds from the rest of Croatia and from abroad.
Academic programmes are approved and financed by the Ministry of Science & Technology of the Republic of Croatia and meet the requirements of IMO STCW Convention 1978/1995 as to the standards of education and training of seafarers.
Academic Programmes:
(1) Associate in Science
Three majors lead to Associate in Science Diploma:
Upon completion of any one of the above courses successful students are awarded the professional title of Associate in Science or HND/HNC in Maritime Transport.
- - Nautical Studies (two-years);
- - Marine Engineering (two-years);
- - Marine Electronics and Maritime Communications (five-semesters)
(2) Bachelor of Science degree
The College offers two courses leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in:
As a continuation of Associate in Science courses, the Bachelor of Science courses take further two years, thus forming a full four-year course.
- - Nautical Science and Maritime Safety, and
- - Marine Engineering Technology.
Upon completion of any one of the above courses successful students are awarded the B.Sc degree and professional title of Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation. Note:
The Department of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka, an affiliated educational institution closely collaborating with the Rijeka College of Maritime Studies, also offers course leading to B.Sc. degree in Technology of Maritime Transportation.(3) Master of Science courses (of modular type) in maritime studies and transportation are also offered in collaboration with the Department of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka.

Academic year
The academic year comprises two sessions: the autumn semester extends from 10th September through to 31st January, and the spring semester from 1st March through to 10th June.
